Phone disconnects my DSL?
My 5.8ghz cordless phone is always disconnecting my DSL…Everytime I make a phone call or answer one, the light on the modem blinks red…I have tried 4 different filters for the phone jack and I’m not using a phone jack for my modem. Ever since I moved my internet inside my room, it never stops disconnecting! I never had any problems in the other room. How do I fix it? Please help I don’t want to contact my ISP. I have SBC Yahoo DSL. I’ve already tried to contact them.
Here are some of the steps that you may consider checking:
1. Have you tried calling your telephone company to report the issue? if not, better call them first. As per your description of the issue, i think the problem is with the current phone jack itself since you said that it was working fine before way back when you were using a different phone jack. Your telephone company will tell you if there’s a need for their tech field to be dispatched to check the lines. Check out their numbers at:

2. check for the location of the modem – should be at least 3 feet away from any devices that may emit electromagnetic interferences such as speakers, phone base, monitors, halogen lamps. it should not be placed on a carpeted floor as well.
2. how many phone jacks do you have at home that is using the same dsl number that has phone devices connected on it? make sure that they all have dsl filters installed on them, and these devices should be on the PHONE side of the filter, while the dsl cable coming from the modem should be on the DSL port of the filter.
4. call your ISP Provider – it’s SBC Yahoo you said? They will need to run line tests on your dsl line to find out if there are any line errors. Could be that there’s an issue on their lines that can be best resolved by sending out their field techs to check. Just make sure that you follow the instructions from the tech support rep, so you can be sure that the problem is not inside your premise to avoid possible charges due to issues occuring inside your house. If you’re not satisfied with the assistance from the first level techs, you can always ask for a supervisor’s assistance – this applies for all tech support groups.
